This policy explains what data the Shopamoji app ("Shopamoji", "we", "us") collects, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: shopamoji.contact@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
- Account data. You can use Shopamoji with an anonymous account or sign in with Apple or Google. Signing in gives us an account identifier and, depending on what the provider shares, your name and email address. We use it to sync your lists across devices and to let you share lists.
- Your content. Lists, recipes, products, notes, quantities and prices you enter, and the public profile name and avatar other people see when you share a list with them.
- AI assistant input. When you use the AI assistant, the text you type, voice messages you record, photos and videos you attach and links you share are sent to process your request (see below). Photos, voice messages and videos are not kept by Shopamoji.
- Purchases. Your subscription status and purchase history, so premium features work on your devices.
- Diagnostics and usage. Crash reports, performance measurements and app usage events, used to fix bugs and improve the app. They are not used for advertising.
- Notifications. A push token, so we can notify you about changes to shared lists and when the AI assistant has finished a video.
We do not sell your data, do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and do not show third-party ads.
AI assistant
The AI assistant, Shopa-cat, turns your requests into lists and recipes. Before your first request, the app asks for your permission to send data to Google Gemini; if you decline, nothing is sent.
- Your messages, voice messages, attached photos (up to three) and videos (up to 60 seconds), and the names of your lists (so the assistant can add to an existing list) are sent to Google's Gemini API through our servers. We do not send your name, email or account identifier with them.
- If a message contains links, our servers download those web pages and pass their text to Gemini. For a YouTube link, Gemini watches the video directly from YouTube, and our servers ask YouTube for its title.
- A video you attach is uploaded to our storage, handed to Gemini for the task, and deleted from both when the task ends.
- Google processes this data to answer your request. Under the Gemini API terms for paid services it is not used to improve Google's products, and Google keeps it only for a limited time to detect abuse.
- Older versions of the app send the same kind of input (text, voice recordings, photos and links) to OpenAI instead, which turns voice into text and the request into lists. Under OpenAI's API terms it is not used to train OpenAI's models and may be kept by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. Updating the app switches you to the assistant described above.
- To keep the conversation going, Shopamoji stores the text of your recent chat with the assistant (photos, voice messages and videos are replaced by a short note such as "the user attached a photo"), background video tasks with their link, title and result, and a record of what each request changed so you can undo it. It also counts your daily AI use to apply fair-use limits. A conversation starts over after a day without messages or when you tap New chat, and all of it is deleted with your account.

Sharing lists
When you share a list, the people you share it with can see the list's content and your public profile name and avatar.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account); this removes your lists, products, prices, quantities and profile, and removes you from lists shared with you. Crash and analytics data is kept by Google for its standard retention periods. You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing shopamoji.contact@gmail.com.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and object to or restrict its processing. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. You can also withdraw your consent for the AI assistant at any time by not using it.
Children
Shopamoji is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, stored with Google Cloud, and protected by access rules so that only you and the people you share lists with can read your lists.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the effective date above.
